[Via Satellite 02-20-2015] Boeing has shifted an initial six programs to its new Boeing Defense and Space (BDS) development program in order to improve the efficiency of pre-production development activities. Of the six programs, three are aircraft-related, and three are space-related. The space projects include NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), the CST-100 commercial crew spacecraft, and the Boeing 502 small satellite. The company won its first order for two Boeing 502 Phoenix spacecraft from remote sensing startup HySpecIQ in September 2014.
Former president of BDS Global Services & Support (GS&S) unit Jim O’Neill will lead BDS Development while Leanne Caret, the BDS chief financial officer, will succeed O’Neill as president of GS&S, effective immediately.
