[Via Satellite 11-30-2015] Qatari telecommunications company Ooredoo has launched a new broadband service called “VSAT Internet” for nations located in the Middle East. The company is using capacity from Eutelsat’s KA SAT to offer download speeds up to 22 Mbps and upload speeds up to 6 Mbps for applications such as point-of-sale transactions, data processing, reservation systems and high-speed Internet access.

Businesses operating in remote locations, notably in desert and coastal waters, are top markets for Ooredoo’s new service. VSAT Internet provides immediate access, an on-demand volume booster, and a secure system with a 24/7 Command Control Center (CCC) for constant monitoring. It is designed to deliver tailored communication for businesses operating in sectors such as construction, hospitality, manufacturing, tourism and agriculture as well as government agencies and news agencies. The service is available starting from $820 per month, and data packs are available to boost volume after consuming the 200 GB monthly data quota.
