[Via Satellite 11-23-2015] Spacecom, operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, today announced that all communications and signals from the AMOS 5 satellite at the 17 degrees east orbital position have been lost. The failure occurred Saturday, Nov. 21. The company is currently employing all of its capabilities and those of its partners to re-establish communication with the satellite and, at this point, does not have further information regarding the cause of this anomaly.
“Spacecom is working around the clock, doing the utmost to speed service recovery for its customers. Our service teams are looking for solutions for our customers to enable their broadcast signals and data communications streams to continue with minimal interruption,” said Spacecom CEO and President, David Pollack.

With available capacity on various satellites from different operators, such as Arabsat, Intelsat, SES or ABS, CETel is able to cover all affected areas and provide alternative services on existing technological platforms in C- and Ku-band quickly. CTEl’s field service partners all over Africa are standing by to help adjusting customer equipment as soon as possible in order to minimize any further service outage, according to the company.
This business contingency service can include procurement of satellite capacity, project management, field service and any required teleport service including Internet, network (e.g., MPLS, VPN) or voice access.
