[Via Satellite 01-12-2015] General Dynamics Mission Systems and Rockwell Collins have shipped more than 1,200 AN/PRC-155 radios for a Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) contract with the U.S. government. According to the companies, the PRC-155 is now the first two-channel fielded radio to be operationally deployed for the U.S. Army.

The remainder of the 1,500 ordered radios will be shipped during the first quarter of 2015. Soldiers can use the PRC-155 to connect line-of-sight radios to satellite communications systems. They can also connect to regional headquarters through secure satellite communication networks.

General Dynamics and Rockwell Collins are the two vendors that build the PRC-155 radios. Once the current LRIP contract is complete, the Army will own more than 5,300 PRC-155 manpack radios.
