[Via Satellite 07-15-2015] Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has announced the Hispasat 4K International Festival, which the company is organizing in Spain. The competition is open to films produced in any country and genre, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes as long as it is shot in 4K format. The call for entries began July 14 and runs to Sept. 23.

Hispasat will award five winning films, which will be shown at a closing night ceremony on Nov. 12 at the Callao cinema in Madrid. Several companies including Samsung, Dolby, RTVE, Callao City Lights cinema in Madrid, and producer Heavents have joined the effort to make the contest possible in Spain. Likewise, the festival collaborates with prestigious film schools in Spain and Latin America, the students of which will be able to participate in the competition.

Hispasat has broadcast its Hispasat 4K TV channel Free-to-Air (FTA) in Europe since September 2013, and in North and Central America since April 2014. The operator plans to broadcast the channel in the future in South America.
