Hughes to Build Lightweight X-band Terminal for Airbus Defence and Space – Satellite Today

[Via Satellite 11-06-2014] Airbus Defence and Space has selected Hughes Network Systems to develop a new ultra-compact, lightweight terminal for a service named XeBRA. The new terminal measures 8 x 25.8 x 23 centimeters, and will weigh less than 5.4 kg.

The X-band terminal can be transported on foot for Communications on the Pause (COTP) operations. It will deliver up to 512 Kbps through Airbus Defence and Space’s Skynet 5 satellites. Services include voice, data and video conferencing or online streaming.
