[Via Satellite 10-23-2015] Intelsat elected Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephen Spengler to the company’s board of directors, effective Oct. 22, 2015, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Denis Villafranca.
Spengler joined Intelsat in 2003, and has served in executive roles of increasing responsibility, including deputy CEO, president and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Executive Vice President (EVP) of sales, marketing and strategy, and various sales management roles. As part of a planned succession, Spengler became CEO of Intelsat on April 1, and former CEO David McGlade took the role of executive chairman. Spengler has 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and satellite industry, and has been a driving force behind the development of Intelsat’s next generation of satellite solutions, particularly the company’s High Throughput Satellite (HTS) platform, Intelsat EpicNG.
